The Catalogue

The first catalogue of Voltaire’s library was the so called Ferney catalogue, drawn up with the participation of Voltaire himself.

The catalogue published in 1961 is the result of many years of work of bibliographers of the Public Library, started in the 1920s. Please note! The catalogue is protected by copyright. It is NOT online and remotely accessible.

The catalogue reflects not only separate editions, but also works published within collections. Every publication including more than one work is accompanied by a list of contents.

The appendices include

  • a list of “pot-pourris” (factitious collections)
  • a short description of manuscript addenda to printed books
  • a list of books erroneously included in the Voltaire library
  • the Ferney catalogue
