In 1965, the library of the 1st Cadet Corps was added to the Rare Books Department as an example of very few Russian collections that survived intact from the eighteenth century. The collection contains over 7000 eighteenth- to early-nineteenth-century books in German, French, Latin, Italian, and Russian, most of which are schoolbooks.
