Large Italian Skylight Room
Large Italian Skylight Room

This is one of the three huge grand interior spaces in the New Hermitage that are naturally lit by skylights.

As a partner of the St. Petersburg Palaces Music Festival, the National Library of Russia presents  the recorded video of the romances by Duke Peter of Oldenburg on the Festival YouTube channel: Prayer, Stormy Sea, Quiet Grove. The programme included also popular and less well-known songs by the greatest masters of the genre Peter Tchaikovsky and Sergei Rachmaninov.

Spectators have a unique opportunity to hear the premiere performance of lyric songs created by the distinguished statesmen of the Russian Empire, Duke Peter of Oldenburg. The Duke was not only a large-scale public figure but also a talented pianist and composer. The rare sheet music was exclusively provided for the concert by the National Library of Russia from its richest collections of "musical treasures".

Watch and listen to the concert of Russian romances at one of the most impressive venues of the Hermitage Museum — the Large Italian Skylight Room. The beautiful musical masterpieces will be performed by famous soloists of the Mariinsky Theater, surrounded by the picturesque masterpieces of the outstanding Italian artists of the 17-18 centuries.
