The National Library of Russia is happy to announce that the first stage of the project to digitize Russian pre-revolutionary newspapers has been completed. The Imperial Russian Newspapers collection is freely available on the website of the East View Global Press Achive. The historic newspapers span the eighteenth, nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, from 1728 to 1917. The collection include 19 titles (25,000 issues) from the holdings of the National Library of Russia’s Newspapers Department.
You can find the most famous titles from Moscow and St. Petersburg (Sankt-Peterburgskie vedomosti, Moskovskie vedomosti) and regional newspapers (Olonetskiye gubernskie vedomosti, Orenburgskie gubernskie vedomosti), published over several years. Users can search newspaper by newspaper title and date. Search engine also support the user in navigating the content of digitized newspapers.
