On May, 17 "Library Telebridge: the Russian Federation - the Republic of Turkey" took place. In the course of the Telebridge representatives of the National Library of Russia and Nation's Library of the Presidency (Turkey) exchanged their professional experience and discussed cooperation prospects. The event was attended by: Director General of the National Library of Russia Vladimir Gronskii, Head of the International and Organizational Activities Department Kseniia Morozova, Senior Researcher of the History of Librarianship Department Irina Matveeva, Head of the Nation's Library of the Presidency Ayhan Tuğlu and specialists of the institution Birgül Ünal, Hanife Gökduman and Taha Burak. The meeting was dedicated to the issues of architecture and equipment of library buildings. Vladimir Gronskii, Director General of the National Library of Russia, made a report on the history and functions of the National Library of Russia’s New Building. He noted the relevance of the construction of the third stage due to the need for additional storage space for incoming editions. Ayhan Tuğlu, Director of the People's Library under the President of Turkey, delivered a report on the book repository building, which is now the largest in the country and is an example of a modern library complex. Mr. Tuğlu pointed out that the 21st century library buildings are the buildings with all kinds of technological equipment for producing, receiving and exchanging information in accordance with the demands of all members of society. Irina Matveeva, Senior Researcher of the History of Librarianship Department of the National Library of Russia, made a report on the history of the first building of the Imperial Public Library. It is highly important to organize professional discussions between specialists of national libraries to discuss topical issues. Such professional events give opportunity to exchange experiences, strengthen international relations and keep improving library services.
