On June 26-28, Ufa hosted 10th Forum of Russian and Belarusian Regions. The main theme of the event is"10th anniversary of the Forum of Regions of Russia and Belarus: results and prospects". President of Russian Federation Vladimir Putin welcomed the participants of the Forum as well as the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko. Director General of the National Library of Russia Vladimir Gronskii took part in the Forum. At the session "Humanitarian cooperation between Russia and Belarus. Results of the decade and prospects of development" he presented the report "Cooperation of Russia and Belarus in culture as a factor of spiritual and moral rapprochement of the two countries", dedicated to the work of the National Library of Russia on preservation and popularization of book and handwritten heritage of Belarus. Vladimir Gronskii talked about the role of the library in the promotion of the Belarusian history, literature and culture based on the example of annual readings "St. Petersburg and Belarusian culture", held in the National Library of Russia for more than 30 years, and also noted the importance of further strengthening of ties with the Standing Committee of the Union State. As part of the Forum events, intergovernmental and interregional agreements aimed at expanding bilateral cooperation have been signed at various venues. The Forum also included youth and sport events, a trade fair and exhibition devoted to scientific, industrial and other achievements of the regions of Russia, Belarus and the Republic of Bashkortostan. The Forum is organized by the Council of Federation, the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan. The Forum is attended by top officials, representatives of federal executive bodies, business communities, public and scientific figures.
