On May 23 in Bukhara Library and Information Center (Uzbekistan) was held a press conference dedicated to the XVI International Conference "Central Asia - 2023: Internet and Information and Library Resources in Science, Education, Culture and Business".
General Director of the National Library of Russia Vladimir Gronskii took part in the event. He spoke about the NLR's Oriental collections and the documents of Bukhara origin stored in them.
During the meeting a Memorandum of Cooperation between the National Library of Russia and the Bukhara Library and Information Center was signed. Vladimir Gronskii also donated publications of the National Library of Russia to the Center.
On May 24 the XVI International Conference "Central Asia - 2023: Internet and Information and Library Resources in Science, Education, Culture and Business" and the II Commonwealth Forum "Book and Reading as a Strategic Resource in the Development of Society" began their work.
The conference was attended by Vladimir Gronskii, Director General of the National Library of Russia, who made a report "The Russian National Library - the Treasury of World Culture".
The conference was organized by the Agency of Information and Mass Communications under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan; the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS Member States; the Alisher Navoi National Library of Uzbekistan; the Uzarkhiv Agency; the Muhammad al-Khorazmiy University of Information Technologies in Tashkent; and the State Institute of Arts and Culture of Uzbekistan.
The conference is attended by international experts, library directors, heads and specialists of information-resource and information-library centers, specialists of archives, museums, scientists, teachers of educational institutions, ICT specialists, public figures, representatives of ministries and departments.
