On October 30 the St. Petersburg State Institute of Culture hosted an international seminar "Personality in the Library" organized by the National Library of Russia.
Within the framework of the seminar specialists from national and public libraries of India, Kyrgyzstan, Mauritius, Mongolia, Myanmar, Peru, Russia told about outstanding representatives of the library profession. The seminar was opened by Rector of the Institute Alexander Turgaev. The welcoming speech of Vladimir Gronsky, Director General of the NLR, was read by Kseniia Morozova, Head of the Department of International and Organizational Activities.
Pavel Kuzmin, Director General of the Rudomino All-Russian State Library of Foreign Literature, made a report on the outstanding librarian, cultural and public figure Ekaterina Genieva, Director of “Inostranka” in 1993-2015. Anton Likhomanov, Advisor to the Director General of the NLR, gave a presentation on Vladimir Stasov, art and music critic, art historian, bibliographer and archivist, who worked at the Imperial Public Library from 1872 to 1906. Marina Kolesnikova, Head of the Department of Library Science and Reading Theory of St. Petersburg State Librarianship Institute talked about one of the outstanding modern Russian librarians, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor of St. Petersburg State Librarianship Institute Anatoly Vaneyev.
The seminar was held in Russian and English. It was attended by students of the Information and Library Faculty.
The NLR plans to continue the cycle of international meetings, which provide an opportunity to keep in touch with libraries from different countries.
