During the second Russia-Africa Summit (27-28 July, St. Petersburg) the National Library of Russia organised a "Library Telebridge: Russia - Uganda", which was attended by representatives of the National Library of Uganda.
The specialists of the institutions shared their work experience and discussed the prospects of co-operation in the framework of future joint projects.
The National Library of Uganda is not only the main depository of its country, but also the main methodological centre for all public and municipal libraries of the state.
The prospects for strengthening ties between Russia and Africa in the cultural and humanitarian sphere are wide open. The plans for cooperation between the NLR and the National Library of Uganda include the establishment of international book exchange, educational internships, specialists’ participation in international professional events and exchange of experience in key areas of library activities.
Also on the eve of the Russia-Africa summit, on 25 July, in the New Building of the NLR opened the exhibition "Africa. Unified and Multifaceted". The exhibition is divided into five parts, according to the number of African regions, as well as thematic blocks devoted to linguistics, literature, art, and religion of the African continent.
