How to Make a Donation

Dear givers, if you would like to donate a book and/or other items to our library, please take the following steps:

  1. Contact us by e-mails - dary@nlr.ru,  foreign@nlr.ru and let us know  your offer.
  2. Send gift descriptions by our e-mails - dary@nlr.ru,  foreign@nlr.ru.
  3. You can send your donation by post at the address: room no.75, the Donations Group of the Acquisitions Department, the National Library of Russia, 18, Sadovaya st., St.-Petersburg, 191069, Russia.
    You can visit us in person on weekdays from 9:00 to 17:00 at the addresses:
    • 18, Sadovaya street (the Main Library Building).
      Go through the Entrance for Groups under the sign «DIRECTORIAL BOARD» - «ДИРЕКЦИЯ» from Sadovaya street and call by phone 310-01-75 near the security staff or call by internal phone 17-12.
      Lunch break is from 12.00 to 13.00.
    • 165/2, Moskovsky Prospekt (the New Library Building).
      Go through the Central Reader Entrance from Moskovsky Prospekt and call by internal phone 32-94.
      Without a break.

The receipt of the donation will be confirmed later by e-mail or with an official letter. 

Please note!

The National Library of Russia appreciates your willingness to make a donation, but due to objective reasons we can not receive and store all gifts.

The NLR does not take the following publications:

  • children's literature (colorings, textbooks),
  • handmade editions,
  • disks (CDs, DVDs) without the typographic packaging,
  • photocopies of any printed materials and manuscripts,
  • edition with unliquidated library stamps,
  • self-published editions, printed on their own,
  • prohibited publication of extremist nature, calling for violence, ethnic hatred, etc,
  • publication with a large number of handwritten notes, corrections *, with missing pages and/or cover.

* Except where handwritten notes themselves have historical value.
