General Tour of the Main Building

The Main Building of the National Library of Russia

The general tour of the Library includes visits to the Manuscripts Department, the Rare Books Department, Voltaire's Library, premises of the Russian Books Stock and Reading Rooms. You will see how books are stored, get information about the history and architecture of the Library, learn more about its collections and the most famous curators.

During the tour, visitors may photograph things of interest in the historical interiors of the Library.

One of our skilled guides wil accompany you on the way through the Library. We guarantee you individual approach to every group.

Details

Group tours are arranged on weekdays from 10:00 to 15:00, except Saturdays and Sundays, state holidays and the last Tuesday of the month.

The tours are available for groups of up to 15 participants per guide. We are also able to provide private tours for small groups fewer than 6 people.

The tours will take from 60 to 90 minutes and start from the Main Reader Entrance, located at 1-3, Ostrovsky Square. The duration of a private tour can be reduced or prolonged.

Please note! Coats and bags (including backpacks) should be left in the cloakroom.
