In 1957, the Library brought together all the information published by the zemstvo /local, elected councils/ into a single collection within the general Russian holdings. With the complementary material of the Free Economic Society Library, the combined collection now holds 11 771 items. The collection of zemstvo publications encompasses a wide variety of material, published between 1864 and 1917 by provincial and district government councils in Russia. The collection includes books, pamphlets, newspapers, journals and other serials, maps, printed music, prints, science technology literature, single-sheet broadsides etc.
