Manuscripts Room

Access to the Manuscripts Reading Room is possible with library cards only. But please note that admission to the Manuscripts Reading Room cannot be guaranteed.

Our Manuscript Collections have restrictions to use or access. In oder to access to the reading room, you must provided us with a request letter from your organization.

To view items in the reading room, readers must fill out request forms upon a personal visit. Requested materials will be delivered to the room on the next weekday after 15.00.

The reading room also houses the reference collection of printed catalogues, albums of watermarks, basic specialized and encyclopedic reference books, dictionaries, key studies of manuscripts from the Library holdings.

In the room, You can consult a card catalogue as well as inventories and printed catalogues of the Manuscript Collections. Many of them are available online.

Visitors can get information about availability of manuscripts in our library and their shelfmarks via the electronic and card catalogues. If you need reference and bibliographic assistance, ask our specialists in the room.

You can order digital and photographic copies, for personal use only, of items from the Manuscript Collections. Some items can't be copied, if they are very rare or fragile.

It is strictly forbidden to take photographs of manuscript materials youself.
You can NOT use a compact camera, tablet nor camera of your phone. The use of professional equipment is NOT allowed.

Guided tour of the Manuscripts Department and current exhibitions are conducted only by prior arrangement.
